An agreement between The Greater
Vancouver Water District and Point Roberts Water District assures an adequate
supply of good quality water from the Vancouver watershed. Partial cost
of the reservoirs provided for in the agreement was through a utility local
improvement district, with the one-time only cost payable either in full
or amortized over a period of several years. There is a connection charge

The Volunteer Fire Department, whose
service may be augmented by the Delta fire department, has such a fine
record that fire insurance rates are kept to a level comparable to those
of the City of Blaine. In addition to two modern fire trucks, the department
has an emergency aid van and has several qualified Emergency Medical Technicians.
Medi-Vac helicopter service is available from Bellingham in extreme emergencies.

The library,
which is a branch of the Whatcom County Library, is located in the community
center on Gulf Road. It is open every Saturday and Wednesday. If you do
not find reading material to your liking among the well-stocked shelves,
the librarian will bring books in on special order.
The
border crossing is open and staffed 24 hours per day year 'round. Customs
service is available upon request for those entering from Canada by boat.
There Is no charge for this service between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

K through Grade Three classes are
held in the local school. Fourth Grade through High School students are
bused to Blaine. The bus leaves The Point shortly before 8 a.m. and returns
prior to 4 p.m. An activities bus enables local students to participate
in extra-curricular activities. During recent years, Blaine schools have
received National Awards of Excellence.
